POSTPONED South Leverton Parish Parish Council Meeting
Wed, 21 Sep 2022 18:00
Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Section 243 of the Local Government Act 1972 excludes days of mourning for the 'clear days' calculation purposes for calling a parish council meeting. Had the three clear days' notice (weekdays & Saturdays, in law, 3 clear days is the day the agenda is published, 3 more of these days and the day of the meeting) passed by 8th September 2022, a meeting could legally be held, as 3 clear days' notice had not completed at the time of Her Majesty's passing, an extra-long period of 'clear notice' is now in place, in law by the Local Govt Act, defined as extra days due to 'days of mourning'. The period of Mourning extends beyond when planned parish Council meeting would have been held, and only once this period has completed, can a new normal 3 clear days' notice period commence. Therefore the parish council is prevented from meeting in September 2022. The next planned meeting of the Parish Council is Tues 22nd November (the council haven't anything that is so critically urgent that warrants an early meet in October and cannot wait to be discussed until November). The Parish Council plans on meeting next on Tues 22nd November.
